V3 is a national gaming event that takes place at gaming stores around the country. Ambassadors work hand-in-hand with a local gaming store to get the local gaming community to come out for a day in order to play games they otherwise wouldn't. The new year is off to a great start here at Chicagoland Games and we are ready to keep it moving. First we are hosting two sweet events on our weekly board game nights this month. On January 21st we will be holding a Formula D (De) Grand Prix( FYI we mean the board game) race and on January 28th will be have a Ninja vs Ninja tournament. Also if you do not know how to play we will be happy to teach you. These events are beginner friendly and a great way to learn some new games.

I admit it--I am a hater. From my first day as a gamer way back in 19(cough)88, I always thought the idea of long continuous campaign play was grotesquely overrated. I know heresy. The one thing all "serious" tabletop RPG players agree on is that a successful long running campaign is the ultimate gaming experience. Blah. For twenty years I have argued, much to my player’s chagrin, that it is far more fulfilling to play a variety of different games and have short story arcs in all of them. This allows you to learn all sorts of different systems and tell a variety of different stories without being chained down by genre archetypes like horror and especially the great clichéd chimera fantasy.
